Expense tracker
Income, spending and budgets — exact to the cent, private to you.
Totals you can actually trust
A ledger lives or dies on its arithmetic. Amounts here are stored as exact integer cents — floating-point numbers never touch your money, so totals cannot drift by a cent over a year of entries. Every summary is computed fresh from the entries themselves each time you look, so the numbers on screen can never disagree with the ledger underneath them. And currencies are kept strictly separate: dollars are never silently converted into euros, because any built-in exchange rate would be wrong within a week.
Your data stays yours. Nothing in the tracker is public or shareable, and the full ledger exports as a plain CSV at any time, free — walking away with your own numbers is never behind a paywall.
How to start tracking
- 1Sign in — your ledger is private to your account, and the defaults (Salary, Food, Rent…) are set up for you.
- 2Add income and expenses in seconds, or import your bank's CSV in one shot with explicit column mapping.
- 3Set rent and salary up once as recurring entries — they appear automatically every month.
- 4Give your spending categories monthly budgets and watch live month-to-date progress.
- 5Read the breakdown over any period — by day, week, month or category, per currency — and export everything as CSV whenever you like.
About Ledgerly — Expense Tracker
See exactly how much you earn and spend each month, and where it goes. Add entries in seconds — or import your bank's CSV in one shot — organise them into categories, and read the breakdown over any period: by day, week, month, or category. Rent and salary set themselves up once as recurring entries and appear automatically. Set a monthly budget per category and watch the progress bar, not your gut. Amounts are stored as exact integer cents in whatever currencies you use, never converted and never mixed — the totals are right, which is the entire point of a ledger.
- Income and expenses with categories — sensible defaults seeded, fully customisable
- Breakdowns by day, week, month or category, over any date range
- Recurring entries: rent and salary defined once, appearing every month automatically
- Monthly budgets per category with live month-to-date progress
- Bank CSV import with explicit column mapping — all-or-nothing, never a half-import
- Multi-currency, kept strictly separate; export everything as CSV anytime, free
Frequently asked questions
- Is my financial data private?
- Completely. Nothing in the tracker is ever public, shareable, or crawlable — your entries are visible to your account and nobody else, and you can export everything as CSV at any time.
- Can I import transactions from my bank?
- Yes — export a CSV from your bank and map its columns (date, amount, and optionally a note, category, or type column). Every row is validated before anything is imported, so a broken row means clear errors, never a half-imported statement.
- How do recurring entries like rent work?
- Define the amount, the day of the month, and a start date once. The entry then appears automatically every month — day 31 becomes the last day of shorter months, so February never skips your rent. Pause or delete the rule anytime; entries it already made stay, because money that appeared is history.
- Does it handle multiple currencies?
- Yes. Each entry carries its own currency, and totals are always shown per currency — nothing is ever converted or summed across currencies, because any built-in exchange rate would be wrong by next Tuesday.
- How accurate are the totals?
- Exact. Amounts are stored as integer cents — floating-point numbers never touch your money — and every summary is computed fresh from the entries themselves, so the totals cannot drift or fall out of step.
- Can I set budgets?
- Yes — a monthly amount per expense category, per currency. Progress is derived live from the month's entries, so the bar always matches the ledger.
