Fixtures that are actually fair

Round robin schedules use the circle method — the same rotation real leagues use — so everyone plays everyone exactly once, and an odd number of teams means one team rests each round rather than anyone playing twice. Knockout brackets are seeded the conventional way: byes go to the top seeds, and the bracket is arranged so the top two seeds can only meet in the final.

The league table is derived from the results themselves, every time it is read — there is no second copy to fall out of step with the scores. When teams finish level, your tiebreaker order decides, head-to-head cycles are detected rather than silently mis-ranked, and any place settled by drawn lots is labelled as exactly that.

How to run a tournament

  1. 1Name your tournament and pick a format: round robin, double round robin, knockout, or groups feeding a knockout.
  2. 2Set the points for a win, draw and loss — or pick a preset like football's 3-1-0 — and order your tiebreakers.
  3. 3Open registration and share the link. Teams enter themselves; every entry waits in your approval queue.
  4. 4Close registration and generate the fixtures in one click. Byes resolve automatically in a knockout.
  5. 5Enter results as they happen — the league table or bracket updates instantly on your public page.

Frequently asked questions

How are round robin fixtures generated?
With the circle method, the standard rotation used by real leagues: everyone plays everyone exactly once (twice with home and away in double round robin), and an odd number of teams gets one sitting out each round rather than anyone playing twice.
How does the knockout bracket handle byes?
The field is padded to the next power of two and the byes go to the top seeds — the convention, and the fair one. Byes resolve automatically as walkovers; you never enter a score for them.
Do teams need an account to register?
No. Registration is a public form — anyone with the link can enter a team. Entries land in your pending queue and nothing appears publicly until you approve it.
Can I use this for any sport?
Yes. The engine counts scores and points, not goals or runs — you set what a win, draw and loss are worth, whether draws are allowed at all, and the order of tiebreakers, so it fits football, cricket, esports or the office ping-pong league.
What happens when teams are level on points?
Your tiebreaker order decides: score difference, score for, head-to-head, wins, then drawn lots. Head-to-head cycles (A beats B beats C beats A) are detected and skipped honestly, and a place settled by lots is labelled as such.
Can I charge an entry fee?
You can track who has paid — a per-team paid flag for your own bookkeeping. Payment itself stays between you and the teams; we never touch the money.
